Ordering stuff online!
What can we do and what can we not?
Hello everyone!
Someone asked me the other day if it were illegal to order ammo online. This led to a long conversation about what is, and what is not allowed to order to your home regarding firearms and ordnance.
So, depending on where you live in the country you may be able to order rounds straight to your place of residence, or you have to go to the store to pick it up. In states that are very restrictive to the second amendment such as California and New York, you are going to have a more difficult time finding companies that are willing to ship to you. Illinois is a strange exception in that you must acquire something called a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card to even buy firearms or cartridges.
When it comes to firearms, there are a few more rules you need to follow. If you are ordering a fully assembled firearm, you must order it to an FFL near you in order to do a firearms transfer and background check so that you can pick it up, just be advised that certain states have a mandatory wait period. You could go the route of getting an FFL license, or a Curio and Relics license for older firearms, which I will go into in a separate article, but that also puts you at the mercy of the ATF being able to inspect the premises of the license holder. You can order most firearm parts as of now to your residence, again as long as those parts are allowed in your state such as magazines, barrels, grips, handguards, optics, etc. The one part that you cannot do this with, is the receiver, or the piece that has a serial number and is considered the firearm. In a state like Texas, if you are able to acquire a license to carry, you are able to forgo the background check because by being a license holder, it is accepted that you are already a law-abiding citizen.
If you are looking for decent websites to use to help with all of your firearm needs, I recommend gun.deals, Cheaperthandirt, and sometimes midwayusa has some good deals, but make sure you pay attention to the sip date because it can be a lot longer than you were anticipating, but they are good about letting you cancel and giving your money back in a timely manner.
If you guys have any questions about anything or there is something that I missed, please let me know!

Again, more good knowledge, thank you for your time and willingness to share that with us!! I can't wait to read more
